Thirty-two-year-old office worker Himeno Takuji prefers the company of dolls to people. At an antique shop, he selects a bisque doll, which is subsequently boxed and gifted to him for the holidays by Fukuzou Moguro, known as the Laughing Salesman. Himeno names the doll Micheline. Following this transaction, the salesman issues a stern warning to Himeno, stating that the doll possesses a heart. He cautions that betraying the doll will result in consequences far worse than angering an upset woman, implying a dangerous supernatural element attached to the gift.
