After realizing the Rare Hunter intends to summon Exodia, Yami Yugi formulates a counter-strategy to stop the move. Following this confrontation, a man named Marik approaches Yami Yugi and addresses him as the Pharaoh. Marik then uses his Millennium Rod to take control of the Rare Hunter. He issues a warning that the Pharaoh will be destroyed if Yami Yugi attempts to locate him, promising to use one of his Egyptian God cards to achieve this goal.
