Gyokuran was the team's archaeologist. Gyokuran was Shion's childhood friend; the two also went to school together with Shukaido. Gyokuran possessed psychic powers, but had difficulty controlling them and as a result had to wear special earrings to contain his power. Gyokuran unwittingly became Shion's greatest rival, due to his being everything that Shion could not.
