A chance encounter occurs between Seo-An and the king while traveling to take an exam. After successfully passing, Seo-An becomes a government official but is made to wear the attire of a concubine. His challenging experiences in the palace then begin. Several character pairings are featured, including the king and the civil servant, the crown prince and a military officer, among others. Six additional chapters are included.
