Archdemon Zagan enlists the sorcerer Purgatory Barbatos to protect Archangel Chastille Lillqvist from hidden threats. Barbatos observes Chastille as she repeatedly makes poor decisions, places trust in the wrong people, and frequently becomes overwhelmed with emotion. Despite his initial reluctance, there may be an unexpected impact on Barbatos from Chastille's behavior and emotional outbursts.
