Alice's Book

A two-volume tribute compilation built around contributions from members of the Year 24 Group and the Post Year 24 Group, the loose circle of shoujo artists whose work reshaped Japanese comics from the 1970s onward. The first book pairs each participant with a freshly drawn piece, while the second reprints one well-known earlier work apiece, allowing readers to weigh each artist's newer output against an established representative title. Contributors include Keiko Takemiya, Junko Murata, Misako Nachi, Aiko Itou, Michi Tarasawa, Yasuko Sakata, Mineko Yamada, Nanae Sasaya and Shio Satou, with subjects ranging from mythic fantasy and folkloric horror to slice-of-life vignettes and quietly surreal short pieces. The release functions as both anthology and informal retrospective of the group.
