In a society where arranged marriages are common, Daphne marries her first love and is crowned empress. A blind woman named Rosetta arrives, asserting she is pregnant with the Emperor’s child. The Emperor does not refute the claim and grows distant toward Daphne. A young court painter named Mephis then approaches her and asks if she would keep him. Initially appearing to be a simple inquiry, his words gradually become a deeply emotional declaration.
