A junior high student named Mitsu hears a fortune from a fortuneteller suggesting she marry the person she loves the second most. As an adult, she works at a clinic and reunites with her first love, Arishima, beginning a close relationship. However, Mitsu is already married to a kind and caring husband. The story explores the lives of Mitsu and her husband, as well as Arishima and his wife, from four different perspectives.
