Ane Oto

Moeko's family is still reeling from the loss of her older brother when her father decides to bring in Kiichi, the son of an acquaintance, to live with them. Kiichi is a year younger than Moeko, and her father wants him to take the place of a younger brother. While Moeko does not hate Kiichi, she struggles to accept him as she deals with her grief. Kiichi, who has moved from Tokyo, adapts to the coastal rural life despite the tension in the household. As both enter middle school and spend more time together, their growing relationship may help the family begin to heal.
