A girl experiences the changes of growing up within her "refuge." Anne is remembered as a tragic figure and one of the most well-known victims of war. Hitler is remembered for his harsh rule and is one of the most recognized figures associated with war. Through the imagination of Machiko, a narrative is formed that connects Anne, Hitler, Hanako, and Tarou across different times and places. The story explores an impossible encounter between a boy and a girl, ultimately ending with the boy causing the girl's destruction.
