A large airborne structure appears over Tokyo, causing widespread alarm. As the nation scrambles to respond, a beam of light is directed at a man named Miyasako Kyouichi. The beam does not harm him; instead, it reveals the presence of Tendou Ashita, his former girlfriend, emerging from the resulting smoke.
