A man in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture, discovers a tea bowl in his garden one spring day. The bowl is inhabited by a spirit known as a tsukumogami, whom the man dubs Shiro-san. They start living together, and while Shiro-san lacks knowledge of his origins, he gradually learns that the bowl is a rare Shiro Tenmoku piece. It is recognized as a national treasure and was once valued by the Sengoku-period warlord Oda Nobunaga. The narrative explores their shared life and the bowl's historical significance.
