Shiramine Mana moves to the mountain town of Sanaemachi to stay with relatives after not passing her high school entrance exam. Her cat, Sasuke, is discovered to be a bakeneko. There are additional reasons for her being sent to Sanaemachi beyond the need for a quiet place to study.
