Bija no Joou
ビジャの女王
In 1258 A.D., the Persian city of Bija faced a siege by a Mongol force of 20,000, vastly outnumbering its 5,000 residents. The Mongols had already conquered much of the world through their superior cavalry. The city’s fate seemed inevitable. The narrative follows the Mongol invasion of Persia and Bija’s struggle to resist one of history’s most devastating conflicts. A secretive faction known as the “Indian Inkers” plays a role in the events, adding an unconventional element to the depiction of this historical period. The work is presented as a unique historical drama within the gekiga manga tradition.
