Hisashi is a young writer without money who depends on local shopkeepers for food. He hides his dark, bold stories from those who help him, including his two friends, Gunma, who is the butcher’s son, and Shizuru, who is the fishmonger’s son. One day, Shizuru discovers Hisashi’s secret, forcing him to pay to keep it quiet.
