Aoba, a high school student, is attacked by a giant robot on the first day back from summer vacation. While being chased through the city, his classmate Hina arrives in her own robot and saves him. She gives him a cryptic message about "Dio is waiting for you" before vanishing. This event marks the start of Aoba's involvement with the Free Treaty Alliance in its conflict with the Great Zogilia Republic.
