Decades of warfare have left the Kingdom of Francella devastated. Jeanne d'Arc, living quietly in the village of Dongremie, is killed when unidentified raiders descend on it, and then wakes on the morning before the attack with an unfamiliar ring glowing blue on her hand. Able now to rewind time, she makes for the capital of Chinon and the Crown Prince there, intending to be acknowledged as the saint who will deliver the kingdom, though a group of figures in black cloaks stands between her and that claim.
