Busshi

In a war-torn border country, a princess known as a goddess of death is married to a feudal lord. A Buddhist sculptor named Obito becomes fascinated by her and wants to carve her likeness onto a statue of the Buddha. The narrative explores the intense and turbulent life of a man constantly searching for the meaning of life. Alongside this main story, two additional works by Fumi Shimomura are included: “Stories for a Rainy Night,” published in a volume for the first time, and her latest piece, “Anatta.”
