Reina, adopted into a noble household, must gain the favor of Kilian, the protagonist of a novel in which she is destined to be killed by him. She uses flattery, service, and small gifts to secure her position. However, her efforts seem to have gone too far when Kilian, now older and more intense, begins to see her as more than a sister. He proposes to her, confusing her attempts at survival with romantic interest. As Reina focuses on escaping her fate, Kilian becomes increasingly fixated on her, creating a tense dynamic between them.
