Chibi Maruko-chan

A third-grade student, the main character is nine years old, characterized by her laziness, disorganization, and frequent tardiness to school. She lives with her older sister, who keeps things orderly and must share her room with her. The younger sibling avoids homework and chores, relies on her affectionate grandfather, and often argues with her sister. Despite these habits, she has a kind heart and aims to do the right thing. The series received the 13th Kodansha Manga Award for shoujo in 1989. Following the original author's death in 2018, her former assistants at Sakura Production continued the series with irregular releases in Ribon Magazine.
