Nogawa believes he is being stalked by vultures, which causes him to isolate himself, leave college, and end his relationship. After learning that his deceased neighbor had been unclaimed for three months, his friends and other residents abandon the building. Nogawa remains behind as the property deteriorates and becomes inhabited by a flock of vultures nesting on the roof.
