A girl with a tomboyish personality is sent to a boarding school by her relatives after her father's death. The school has three distinct classes: upper, lower, and special. The girl is placed in the lower class and assigned a neglected attic room. All students suffer under the harsh rule of the headmistress, Ms. Desdemona, and only the students have the power to change their situation.
