A magical land filled with blue fireflies exists beyond a city named Refugia, which is sealed off and devoid of magic. Girls from Refugia find an old book and a red necklace in a library and, drawn by blue fireflies, leave the city and cross previously impenetrable barriers. They carry a legendary item called the Crimson Heart and a message that reads, "Break the curse of Blue Firefly Island." As they journey further into the magical land, they begin to uncover the hidden truths about Refugia and the blue fireflies.
