Gunjo Academy is a government-run institution that enrolls students who scored high on an exam indicating they may struggle to adapt to society. After returning from an unsuccessful summer trip with the school's broadcasting club, Kurosu Taichi and others discover that all life in the city has disappeared, except for the club members. To investigate the situation beyond their location, Taichi helps gather club members to support Miyasumi Misato, the club president, in her efforts to install an antenna for broadcasting and contacting potential survivors.
