Kajitsu Toda becomes responsible for two stepbrothers and a stepsister after her grandmother's death. All four were abandoned by their parents and have formed a family without adult supervision. They refuse charity or pity and seek only to maintain their dignity. Kajitsu and her stepbrother Natsu were once very close as children but have grown apart over the past seven years. Now living together, they struggle to reconnect. Their situation as high school students living together, even as siblings, brings challenges and the risk of scandal.
