Rin frequently moves due to his father's job, making it difficult for him to form lasting connections. His quiet demeanor and small stature make him a target for bullying at each new school. During one move, he unexpectedly hits a home run against Hayato, a skilled pitcher, in an informal baseball game. Impressed and inspired, Hayato proposes a mutual goal: to become Japan's top pitcher and hitter, respectively, with the hope of playing together in the future.
