While studying for an exam and drifting toward sleep, the protagonist awoke in Thrall Village, a rural settlement in a foreign land. Adopted by the village chief, she gradually learned the local language and customs, living there for six years. Her peaceful existence was interrupted when she was unexpectedly called to the royal capital to serve as a secretary to a priest. She was then given a significant assignment: to locate a suitable bride for the Archbishop.
