On October 15, 2002, Toru Hasuike awaited his younger brother Kaoru at the airport. Kaoru had been taken by North Korean agents on July 31, 1978, and spent 24 years in captivity under close surveillance. During that time, he changed significantly and became a representative of the North Korean government. Toru resolved to employ any means possible to convince Kaoru to remain in Japan.
