Global chaos ensues, with nations and families struggling amid the crisis. To find a solution, authorities test all females. Ho Su is discovered to be immune to the radiation. To avoid conflict over her, Professor Yun conceals her immunity and convinces her father to place her in hibernation until conditions improve. Three decades later, in 2042, the world is predominantly male, with only a few hundred women, the youngest in their forties.
