A small clinic on Koshiki island is run by Dr. Koto, also known as Kensuke Goto. Far to the south of the island live four fifth-grade students: Takashi, Kyo, Miyuki, and Kou. The children are energetic and inquisitive. Dr. Koto observes them with affection, though unexpected events often occur. The narrative portrays the children's growth as they experience various situations on the island.
