A mountain known as the Mountain of Life is a source of energy that supports life and nature. After a plane crash into the mountain, eight individuals are revived by fragments of stone infused with life energy. These survivors face an unnatural existence and are pursued by followers of the Grim Reaper. Two of them are chosen and taken over to become grim reapers, tasked with retrieving the life stones from the other survivors. Their targets include a variety of people, including those who may challenge their mission. Meanwhile, a boy named Ichitarou, who is mocked at school, discovers a book on hypnotism and gains the ability to influence the world around him. As he gains power, the question arises whether he will use it for personal gain or to help others.
