Masahiko Yanagiba moves in with his maternal uncle's family after the death of both his parents, as requested in his mother's will. The Wakanaes are warm and welcoming, but he soon learns why other relatives avoid them: the roles of "uncle" and "aunt" are reversed, as the couple has taken on appearances opposite their actual genders. Adding to the confusion is his cousin Shion Wakanae, whose gender remains unclear to Masahiko.
