Two years after the Lifestream incident, a new city called Edge has emerged from the ruins. In this setting, a young man and woman operate a private detective agency. Their lives intersect with the notorious Turks from the Shinra Electric Power Company. The story centers on Evan Townshend, a private detective in Edge, and his encounters with the Turks and other Shinra staff. These interactions eventually lead to a conflict with Kadaj. This novel serves as a prequel to the events of *Advent Children* and expands the *Final Fantasy VII* universe.
