In 1964, a 16-year-old boy named Kozo Inada lives in Kumano, Mie Prefecture. He resents his parents, whom he views as adversaries for their judgmental attitudes based on superficial labels. He also frequently clashes with his teachers, often adopting an aggressive stance toward them. As he transitions from adolescence into adulthood, he continues to resist what he perceives as the senseless norms of the adult world. The story is based on real events and is presented as an early, striking work.
