Asama, Kimi, and Mitotsudaira are aboard the Musashi one year prior to the main story's start. They consider forming a music band to compete in the upcoming festival in Aki, a region governed by K.P.A. Italia. The side story is part of the Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon series and was released as bonus material with the first printings of specific Blu-ray volumes from both anime seasons.
