A 16-year-old photographer travels to Gretna Green in Scotland to marry without parental approval, later divorcing and taking her daughter with her. Thirteen years later, she meets Daniel, who persistently pursues her. At the same time, her brother is involved with Daniel's daughter. The couple plans to elope to Gretna Green, mirroring the photographer's past. The photographer, now resentful, follows them.
