A comedy anthology built around a simple premise: human appetite for consumer goods is endless, and we keep falling for the same purchasing mistakes. Each contributor reviews items they consider either lifelong keepers or instant returns, drawing on examples lifted from their own works and on personal impulse buys made on the spur of the moment. The volume rotates through eighteen stories from different artists, taking in everything from haunted talismans and salt guns to oversized fruit and self-described "good buys" that turn out to be anything but, blending fictional vignettes with autobiographical bits to keep the consumer-culture observations moving.
