Tezuka's final manga was published in 1989, shortly before his death. In 1982, the Edo Shoji Corporation, a major Japanese trading company, opens a new branch in the fictional South American country of Cannibalia. Hitoshi Himoto, a former sumo wrestler turned corporate employee, is promoted to lead the new office. His rapid rise is interrupted when his superior, Director Yabushita, resigns following a scandal involving an extramarital affair. Hitoshi is demoted and relocated within South America. The story explores his struggle to rebuild his career in a foreign and challenging environment, where he is known as the "Gringo." Themes of political and corporate conflict are central to the narrative.
