Guhuozai

The manga traces the rise of Ho-nam (Andy) Chan through the ranks of a triad, beginning as a 49er, then advancing to Red Pole within three years, and eventually becoming the leader of the Hung Hing Gang. It portrays the strong themes of loyalty and brotherhood present in Chinese underground society. The series has become a significant part of Hong Kong cultural identity. In 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the manhua, Ho-nam Chan was listed as 15th among 24 Classic Comic Characters of Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Avenue of Comic Stars, and a statue of him, without a shirt, was installed in Kowloon Park.
