In a quiet alley in Higashiyama, Kyoto, two boarding houses stand side by side, their shared space known as the "outcast alleyway." Only two people live there, and one of them, the daughter of the landlord, tries to convince the other to help attract more tenants. She is focused on bringing in others who are similarly marginalized.
