Haha to Iu Jubaku Musume to Iu Rougoku

A middle-aged woman's body, missing its head and limbs, is discovered partially buried near a river. The victim is identified as Yaeko Miyagawa, whose daughter, Hikari, confesses to her murder following an investigation and trial. Hikari endured years of physical and emotional abuse from her mother, centered on her repeated failures to gain admission to a prestigious medical school. Despite nine unsuccessful attempts at entrance exams, Yaeko continued to control and torment her daughter. The events leading to Yaeko's death by stabbing are examined, along with Hikari's life afterward. The series is based on a real-life case.
