A plague five years ago killed nearly all the villagers of Ootsuka, leaving only three survivors: one girl and two boys. They now reside in a church, living in seclusion to avoid being discovered. One of the survivors, Shino, possesses the power of Murasame, a blade associated with life. When the imperial church attempts to seize Murasame, the group's quiet existence is disrupted.
