Hakuganshi

A young girl, orphaned during the war, is found near death in a market in Otaru, Hokkaido, in 1946. A blind psychic named Hakuganshi takes her in and gives her the name Mitsuko. Hakuganshi lives with her older sister, Kayo, and raises Mitsuko with care, despite the girl's lack of skill and intelligence. When Mitsuko enters high school, she is reunited with a relative and separated from Hakuganshi by her grandmother, who disapproves of psychics. As an adult, Mitsuko marries, becomes pregnant, and faces the challenges of daily life. After her husband is presumed lost in a sea accident, Hakuganshi appears at Mitsuko's bedside and tells her a prophecy that he will return safely. The story includes the one-shots "Chougouraku" and "Amenonubuko."
