Hanbun Kyoudai

Kazumi Yoneyama and her brother face challenges as mixed-race individuals in Japan, where their Black French father and Japanese mother do not align with societal expectations. Despite being born and raised in the country, they are often viewed as outsiders. Alongside other mixed-race friends, they seek ways to embrace their identities and find a sense of belonging in a largely homogenous culture. Daily experiences of discrimination, misunderstandings, and prejudice shape their journey. The story explores their struggle with feelings of otherness and the difficulty of self-acceptance in a society that often fails to recognize their place. It highlights their efforts to move forward while confronting ongoing challenges related to race and identity.
