In 1926 New York City, Augustus Pickford, a photographer working for the small news agency World News Pictures, managed to sneak into a hospital to photograph the wounded mafia boss Giancarlo. He was the only one to gain access to Giancarlo’s room, but before Augustus could take the photograph, Giancarlo, on his deathbed, dictated his final will. As his last request, Giancarlo asked Augustus to deliver flowers to a woman named Carla.
