A 15-year-old girl named Mizunomori Taira visits the office of detective Kataoka Heihachirou and reveals he is her father. Her mother, Seiko, passed away in a traffic accident, prompting Taira to search for the father she never knew. Despite Heihachirou's crude, disorganized, and inappropriate behavior, he agrees to take her in. The two start living together, navigating an unexpected new life as father and daughter.
