A girl named Shiro has been confined to bed since childhood due to a weak heart. Kuro, a girl from her neighborhood, regularly visits and becomes a close companion. As Shiro's health worsens, a heart transplant becomes necessary to save her life. Kuro decides to donate her own heart, receiving a mechanical one in return. The narrative focuses on both girls as they adapt to their new physical realities and the emotions that develop between them.
