Treated as little more than a servant, he decides to quit after being invited by a female knight—his childhood friend and ruler of a distant territory—to assist in developing her land. Doubting his usefulness as a common alchemist, he underestimates his own skill. In reality, he is among the most skilled in the field, possessing knowledge and techniques beyond the reach of others. His departure causes significant disruption at the Guild, but he moves forward regardless. Arriving in the remote region, he finds a more welcoming environment where his abilities can be put to use.
