In a frigid region of Hokkaido, a team of researchers and military personnel explores a cave following reports of unusual animal attacks. Inside, they find a preserved mummy. After the expedition, one of the team members experiences a bizarre transformation, as an unknown lifeform replaces their body. This encounter marks humanity's first contact with the "Higher Tribe," leading to widespread fear and uncertainty.
