Hitogatari

An elderly woman named Ito is informed she has six months remaining in her life. A girl named Hikari visits her, claiming to be an alien and asking if Ito would allow her to take Ito’s place and die instead. Ito, however, has already come to terms with her impending death. Soon after, a young man named Fūta appears, identifying himself as Ito’s friend. The story unfolds as an unconventional slice-of-life narrative written by debut author Natsuki Hasegawa.
